The June Class takes part in the Live-Fire and Treestand Activities at Range Night

Everyone did a fantastic job tonight on the test.  Congratulations to Kevin for the best test score!  Thank you for the excellent job on all of the survival kit presentations, and congratulations to Noah, Spencer, and Annika for best survival kits!  This class also produced the best group of essays as a class, which made it difficult to choose the best one; congratulations to Bobby and Sara, the best essay winners!

Everybody was doing a fabulous job in the hands-on portion of class as well.  Everyone looks comfortable displaying all of the field carries and shooting positions, and you are doing a fine job of passing/courteously accepting a firearm.

You are all ready for responsible, knowledgeable, and safe firearms handling at the range.  Remember that Range Night is the most important part of the Firearm Safety Certification; you will be expected to demonstrate your knowledge of responsible and safe firearms handling at all times.  I want to reassure anyone who may be nervous for Thursday to simply continue practicing all of the things we have discussed in class and you will do a fantastic job.

With the cool temperatures in the evening hours, the likelihood of bugs, and all of the shooting we will be doing Thursday, it may be wise to dress in layers like you learned about in the Personal Preparedness chapter of the Student Manual.  Remember to wear a sturdy or thick shirt and light jacket for a little padding from the firearm recoil.

More information to come before Thursday – check back!
